If an adults-only camp for the too plugged-in was to exist anywhere, it makes sense that it be in California, the land of Google and Facebook and a gaggle of other tech businesses. 

Camp Grounded will welcome 200 buttoned-up, 4G-chained campers for four days of disconnecting with their gadgets and reconnecting with the outdoors at a former Boy Scouts camp nestled in the redwoods of Northern California’s wine country. Campers will be separated into same sex open-air bunks and forced to relinquish their laptops, phones, and even alarm clocks. Oh, and there’s absolutely no networking or business lingo allowed. The goal of the camp is to help attendees feel rested and learn how to really live in the moment and if this study is any indicator, a stay at Camp Grounded could increase your creativeity by up to 50 per cent. 

But what exactly will these constantly tuned-in techies fill their time with? Well, apparently sneaking out of cabins is “highly encouraged.” So if you’re feeling like a slave to your social network, sign up and take a trip down nostalgia lane with games of capture the flag, talent shows and sing-alongs. If tech-free is not your style, there are a host of other adult-only camps on the market teaching valuable skills from zombie survival to BMX from which to take your pick.
