Watch three people undergo the bagel head process (if you can stomach it)
The National Geographic television show, Taboo, recently featured a bizarre Japanese trend involving people pumping saline into their foreheads to create a temporary bagel shape.
The show, which aired on Sunday, featured three people undergoing the bagel head procedure.
This trend requires participants to sit for two hours while saline solution is injected into their forehead. Once their head is swollen, a thumb is placed in the center of the lump to create the final bagel shape.
While it may look completely outlandish, this body modification is temporary, similar to henna, and usually wears off in 16 to 24 hours when the body absorbs the saline. To compare, Botox injections usually wear off in three to four months.
