This March, fans of the HBO show Game of Thrones will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of Westeros all while remaining in the city. This travelling Game of Thrones exhibit is a first of its kind for HBO and will be making stops in only five international cities: New York City, Sao Paulo, Amsterdam, Belfast, and Toronto (which is the tour’s first stop).
The Game of Thrones exhibition focuses on five of the noble houses (Stark, Lannister, Targaryen, Baratheon and Greyjoy) and their key players. Attendees will be able to explore over 70 original artifacts from past seasons, and even some from the current season. Fans may look forward to getting up close and personal with armour worn by select main characters, as well as weapons from the show like King Joffrey’s crossbow and swords like “Ice” and “Longclaw.” For those interested in viewing the fashion of Westeros, the show’s costume designer, Michele Clapton, has overseen the exhibit’s entire costume display, going so far as to dress the mannequins in order to maintain accuracy of presentation since all the garments and props are so intensely detailed.
If looking at props and costumes isn’t enough for your Game of Thrones experience, the exhibit will also feature a Blackwater Bay Interactive Experience, which gives fans the opportunity to join in on the action of the epic battle at Blackwater Bay from season 2. And those that want to go beyond an interactive experience may sit and pose for a pic on a precise replica of the Iron Throne. You won’t want to miss this chance to travel to Westeros (and shop an all Game of Thrones gift shop) so be sure to visit Design Exchange between March 9-16.
