Gird your loins! Though Toronto’s first Target store will open a year from now, a few pieces of the Jason Wu for Target collection will be up for grabs today — if you can brave the line. For one day only, the TTC will be dethroned of its unofficial title as Toronto’s hub of malevolence.
The limited-time-only Jason Wu for Target sample sale brings the designer, Wu, famed stylist of BravoTV’s The Rachel Zoe Project and it’s a Brad, Brad, World, Brad Goreski and 2,500 exclusive looks to Toronto. The highly anticipated (and very affordable) designer collection will be sold at 363 King Street West at noon on Feb. 23.
Wu’s Target diffusion collection launched in the United States in February, and sold out in hours nationwide. Seriously.
Wu, 29, is a designer who first shot to fame after dressing Michelle Obama for the 2009 inauguration ball, and his profile in the 2009 Vogue documentary, The September Issue. He will also help celebrate the launch of his mini-collection with Tony Fisher and John Morioka of Target.
The pop-up sale holds its buyers to a three-item maximum, but these die-hard shoppers and fans will be provided with unlimited gawking and fawning over Wu and Goreski. Goreski, a Port Perry native, was last rumoured to be in Toronto in December 2010, when he attended a pre-Broadway screening of Priscilla Queen of the Desert.
A warning to all shoppers, the manicured claws will be out in full force. Oh, and if the sale couldn’t get any better, all proceeds will go to the United Way.
