Future 36Hazelton resident Mark Wahlberg might be bringing his family hamburger restaurant to Toronto.

Wahlburgers, an eponymous restaurant owned and managed by brothers Donnie, Paul and Mark, has hired a new CEO to expand the eatery beyond its flagship location near Boston.

The new hire, Rick Vanzura, was formerly the Executive Vice President and co-Chief Operating Officer of Panera, LLC.

New Kids on the Block singer and Blue Bloods star Donnie Wahlberg said, in a statement, “Mark and I are pleased to pair a proven executive like Rick with an outstanding chef like Paul to continue to develop Wahlburgers and grow our family business.”

The flagship burger joint opened in Hingham, Mass. last October, following the June 2010 launch of the brothers’ first restauraunt, Alma Nove, a fine dining hotspot named for the Wahlberg matriarch.

“This is not just another celebrity-driven restaurant,” said Vanzura. “Paul is an exceptional chef, and his commitment to quality shows up in the restaurant every day.”

In June 2011, Ted star Mark Wahlberg bought a $12-million condo in Yorkville. Details about the Wahlburgers expansion are under wraps for now, but a future location in Toronto looks like a safe bet.
