The Best Thing on the Internet today actually happened last Tuesday, but that doesn’t matter because it’s still the best thing on the Internet today and will probably be the best thing on the Internet this week, if not the best thing this month and year.
The video is taken from a “dance cam” at the Palace in Auburn Hills during the Detroit Pistons-New York Knicks game from November 19th. At first glance, the footage may be a slow start (the incredible dancing kid starts at 0:26), but reviewing the video closely, you can see a series of small moments that perfectly exemplify the simple, genuine thrill of appearing on the big screen at a sporting event for a few seconds. There’s the blonde woman with extreme dance confidence, sashaying at 0:05, eventually pulling an equally as game male companion into the frame; there are the three young girls and their chaperone at 0:11, the young girls looking as giddy as (almost) any kid would be to look up and see themselves on the big screen, all waves and “I-can’t-believe-it” smiles; at 0:17 there’s a woman seated next to a dancing friend who leaps up as soon as she realizes she’s on camera and goes in for a few seconds before realizing she better check herself lest she wreck herself and this end up a meme on the Internet; the joyous father and his confused expression wearing newborn at 0:20. And then, of course, the coup de grce.
I defy you to have a bad Monday after watching this video. It may not be possible. View below:
