This is a Spinograph:
Joe Fuda has been collecting spinographs for over a year. The photographer and manager of Oz Studios has convinced hundreds of people to use his iPhone to record themselves spinning around in a circle creating a grabbing series of dizzying self portraits. What started as an experiment with his homemade iPhone mounting rig has ballooned into a huge collection of videos.
With hundreds of spinographs in the bank, Fuda has decided to put them on display. He started this blog, featuring snippets of spinographs in animated gif form, to showcase the array of faces he has captured and promote his gallery show of his work. Scrolling through you’ll spy some familiar Toronto faces like MuchMusic VJ Sarah Taylor, singer-songwriter Hayden and “the guy from the Rogers commercials” comedian Levi MacDougall.
Spinographs will be at Oz Studio, 134 Ossington Ave, Saturday December 1, 5pm – Midnight.
Disclosure: Joe Fuda is a one time Toronto Standard contributor and a personal friend, but I still think this is the Best Thing on the Internet Today.
