Party like it’s 2006 ’cause Ed the Sock is coming back to Much Music to take names and bash music videos. Last night Ed the Sock hinted at big Much Music-related news in the near future on his Twitter account, then 4 hours later he tweeted the deets: Ed’s back and he’s bringing his no-hold-bars Fromage spirit with him. March 13 is the big day when our favourite cigar-smoking, insult-slinging, green-hair-don’t-care sock buddy returns to Much Music on two shows (that’s two in one day): Video on Trial and New.Music.Live.
Ed the Sock left Much Music in 2006, although he feels like a staple from the 90’s — which is clear since he’s corrected a few people on Twitter who have been celebrating what they thought was a 14 year hiatus, when it’s really only been half the time. Let is also be known that Ed the Sock was not cancelled or fired, he chose to leave. So no blaming Much Music for 7 years sans our gravelly voiced pal, Ed, he chose to leave back then and now (thankfully) he’s coming back home.
