Gawker Announces Where All That 'Crackstarter' Money is Going
Four organization will receive $46,195.65 each

Having failed to obtain the alleged video that allegedly shows Mayor Rob Ford allegedly smoking crack cocaine, allegedly uttering racial epithets and alleging homophobic slurs, Gawker will be donating the money raised in their “Crackstarter” fundraising campaign to four Canadian organizations that “address the fallout from substance abuse.” $201,199 was raised in an effort to buy the tape that editor John Cook, as well as two Toronto Star reporters, claim to have seen. Cook announced that after PayPal and Indiegogo fees were taken into account, the remaining $184,782.61 would be split evenly, with $46,195.65 going to each of the following groups:

The Somali Canadian Associaton of Etobicoke

The South Riverdale Community Health Centre

Unison Health and Community Services

Ontario Regional Addictions Partnership Committee
