Fall asleep with your head against the window? You might wake up wanting a new pair of Nikes. A German ad agency has announced a new audio technology for public transportation that literally embeds commercials into train windows, enabling messages to flow from the glass and into your mind. The special glass has a transmitter that releases high-frequency oscillations which your brain converts to sound. With an ear pressed to the window, you and only you can hear the voices. Yeah, they’re talkin’ to you.
“The Talking Window” employs bone conduction, the same tech used for headphones. The product was created for the brand SkyGo and is designed to hit up tired commuters who lay their heads against windows to rest. Creative agency BBDO Düsseldorf came up with the system, and they sound like they’re chock full of evil geniuses. We’re wondering if the TTC’s new streetcars or GO Transit will be getting on board with this to bolster their perpetually underfunded budgets. Hopefully it doesn’t come to this.
