Is that one of the droids we’re looking for?
Today, Google released images and a Street View tour of one its top-secret data centres in Douglas County, Georgia. Data centres like the one the featured here are crucial to Google’s business. Like many of the company’s other projects, the centre features several of the company’s trademark flourishes. For instance, the centre’s water pipes are colour coded – blue for cold water and red for hot water. I’ve included several pictures of the data, including a picture of the data centre’s “guard” (more pictures here). Those interested can also read an excellent article by Steven Levy on the history of Google’s data centres. [Google]
