Maria Alyakhina–one of two imprisoned Pussy Riot members–has stopped participating in her parole proceedings after being denied transportation to attend Wednesday hearing by Russian authorities. Alyakhina forbade her lawyers from further representation and announced her hunger strike saying “Let the troika sitting here–the judge, the prosecutor and the colony employee–decide my fate.” Thus far, Alyakhina has had to attend her hearings so far by videolink and submit her motions by fax, after being arrested with bandmates Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Yekatarina Samutsevich for “hooliganism motivated by religious hatred,” punishable with two years in prison.
Alyakhina was rumoured to have been transferred to solitary confinement back in November. Jaded Punk Hulk, why haven’t you busted her out yet?
