Nikon is reportedly working on an Android-powered camera later this month so that everyone, even bitter BlackBerry users, may experience the joys of Instagram. The camera will be part of Nikon’s CoolPix line of point-and-shoots, and it’s said to connect directly to the Google Play market to download apps that will run on the camera.
Why would you want a camera running Android? While the vast majority of Android apps would be fairly useless on a camera, the OS would enable the camera to run photography apps like Instagram or Pixlr-o-Matic. Combining the user-friendliness and social networking of those apps with a real camera is a potent combination. [Mashable]
