JFL42, the Toronto branch of the Just for Laughs brand has announced the dates for this year’s interactive comedy, culture and technology festival. From September 19th to the 28th, the festival, now in its second year, will be returning to venues across Toronto with 42 entertaining events. Last year’s festival included comedic performances by Emmy-winner Louis CK, potty-mouth Amy Schumer, and single cynic Pete Holmes, as well as non-comedic talks with David Suzuki and Elizabeth May. This year, thanks to the success of last year’s audience participation, the interactive festival is turning to fans for line-up suggestions early. By tweeting @JFL42 with the hashtag #JFL42PICKS, prospective attendees can suggest who they want to see in September.
Last year, the venues and number of shows each performer appeared in were all determined by pass holder interest through the festival’s iPhone app, and this year will be no different. For instance, Reggie Watts’ performance at the MOD club was such a hit, a second show was then immediately set up at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre.
