Prince Harry set foot on Afghanistan soil today to begin his four month combat tour for the British Military. He is positioned to begin working as a Apache co-pilot and gunner within 10 days in the country’s Helmand province.
The 27 year old’s recent escapades allowed naked photos of him partying in a Vegas hotel room to be leaked on the internet, cementing his image as the unruly royal. The Royal Family has contended that Prince Harry’s shipment to Afghanistan is in no way intended as punishment for his naked romp in Los Vegas just last month. Instead claiming the decision to send Prince Harry to Afghanistan is not a light hearted matter, and can by no means be done on a whim or last minute.
The tour will mark Prince Harry’s second participation in the British Military. Last March he told CBS News, “I’ve served my country. I enjoyed it because I was with my friends. And, you know, everyone has a part to play. You can’t train people and then not put them into the role they need to play. For me personally, as I said, I want to serve my country. I’ve done it once, and I’m still in the Army, I feel as though I should get the opportunity to do it again.” [Via CBS News & TMZ]
