The New York Times‘ speaking series, TimesTalks, will have its Canadian premiere at the Luminato Festival this June as TimesTalks Luminato. TimesTalks is a series of live conversations between New York Times journalists and renowned artists, filmmakers, designers, politicians, and more, in front of an audience. To celebrate the announcement of TimesTalks in Canada, Luminato with be co-producing a TimesTalk on Friday March 15 in New York, featuring a conversation between performance-artist Marina Abramović and Times culture reporter Patricia Cohen, according to a press release from Luminato’s PR agency.
Abramović (known to us for her fascination with James Franco and making people cry) will be in Toronto to kick-off Luminato with the North American premiere of her experimental opera The Life and Death of Marina Abramović from June 14-17. Following Abramović’s premiere, a series of TimesTalks Luminato will take place at the Isabel Bader Theatre from June 15-16 (with two Talks per day) featuring talent like Willem Dafoe, Robert Wilson, Atom Egoyan, and others.
Tickets to the TimesTalks events are $35.00 and go on sale April 20 at noon.
