Jason Priestley has pretty much become the face of Tim Horton’s ever since the chain was referenced in an episode of How I Met Your Mother devoted entirely to all things Canadian, featuring our nation’s pride and joys the Barenaked Ladies and Timmy Ho donuts. Canada can’t get enough of being referenced on American TV and the show is no stranger to a good Canadian wisecrack – but Tim’s was brimming with special excitement over Priestley after he nostalgically looks back on a donut he invented: a Timbit stuffed in dough in a Boston-cream style dessert. As is tradition in our very grateful country, the Canadian chain expressed their thanks by coming out with “The Priestley“, a pastry that crams a timbit inside a strawberry donut for a delicious ode to Jason Priestley.
Now, Tim’s called up the actor once more to ask him to judge submissions pouring with the launch of their new donut design competition called Duelling Donuts. The new contest asks us Canadians to submit designs for a new dough-ring, and the winner gets their donut sold at Tim Hortons and takes home $10,000. Designs are being accepted online until July 23, 2013. Submit your design, Jason Priestley will pick 8 finalists, and Canada will vote on the new donut that will inevitably play a hand in characterizing this great, donut-honouring nation.
The contest is here just time for Canada day. This is your one and only chance to impress Priestley, and he’s the face of Canada now, so it’d better be good. Build-your-own donut to submit for the competition here.
