Rob Delaney
Beloved Twitter icon and Mitt Romney tormentor-in-chief Rob Delaney will pick up the latest trend in the comedy world by distributing his new stand-up comedy special, “Live at Bowery Ballroom,” online for $5. Like Louis C.K., Aziz Ansari and Jim Gaffigan before him, Delaney has chosen to forgo the traditional route of debuting his special on a cable channel like HBO or Comedy Central and maintaining more control over the final product by releasing it independently on robdelaney.com. While Delaney is not the first comedian to use this distribution method, he will be the first notable name to release his first comedy special online without an exisiting TV legacy. Delaney can count on his expansive Twitter following of over half a million users to spread the word. The move also speaks to a bigger trend in comedy towards self determination outlined by Patton Oswalt in his recent industry address at the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal.
