Crumpled City Maps
Gone are the days of folding and refolding maps. Just crumple and go.

Traditional maps are often a pain to open and refold. When you’re caught holding one on a gusty day in an unfamiliar city, you wind up looking more like a cross between Jacques Tati’s M. Houlot and a performance art piece. With Crumpled City Map you don’t have to worry about being careful with your navigation aid, simply stuff it into a pocket or bag without refolding it along the original creases and away you go. Made by Palomar, named after the travelling protagonist in Italo Calvino’s novel Mr Palomar, the maps are printed on some hi-tech material that makes them lightweight, tear-resistant and waterproof. The map collection includes some of the finest and most visited cities on earth, from Amsterdam to Venice (Toronto included), and includes any vital tourist details, leaving the rest of the adventure to you. Available from Type Books, 883 Queen St. West, $20.
