Found Objects: The Gold Market

Did a little digging, found a lot of gold. While rings, bracelets, and necklaces are nice, here are some less-expected objects all gilded with gleam. Bonus: we're no economists, but gold is like totally recession-proof right?

1. Polish your nails with actual (24K!) gold dust using Deborah Lippmann’s glittery "Boom Boom Pow" ($20 Holt Renfrew, 55 Bloor St. W).

2. A sleekly aureate Commes Des Garcons wallet ($135 at Nomad).

3. Tom Ford Violet Blonde Eau De Parfum (at Holt Renfrew). Powdery, femme-y, super-fine: the official scent of the one per cent.

4. Pretend the Queen's coming for dinner with this Midas-touch flatware by Seletti ($250 for a set of 24 at Good Egg, 267 Augusta Ave).

5. A clutch worthy of the Aztecs, handmade locally using the softest leather and inspirations from Mexico ($64.00 from Scout and Catalogue's Shine Collection).

6. Gold and black striped Dieppa Restrepo loafers ($288 at Chasse Gardee, 1084 Queen, St. West).

7. Add the Midas touch to your favourite button-up with these legit western collar tips ($10 at Philistine, 1394 Queen St. West).
