I like PS22. Don’t roll your eyes at me. I know that they’re this massive phenomenon (Oprah!), and positioning yourself amongst the minions by liking YouTube videos that have more than 5 million hits is supposed to be embarrassing. I fortunately live a world that does not revolve around such pettiness and am unashamed to admit that a part of my heart belongs to the Staten Island fifth-graders that make up Gregg Breinberg’s PS22 choir. (That’s not creepy, right? A small part.) Like so many others, I was emotionally affected after I stumbled across their cover of “Round and Round” by Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti some months ago and have since transformed into a bit of a super fan.
Not only are they good, but they’re genre-benders too. It’s the fourth day of Chanukah, and they’ve got some shvitz-worthy Chanukah tunes in their repertoire.
Do schools still have choirs? Bring back choir! Glee Club is soooooo laaaaaaaaame. -____-
Note: this may not be as good as the transformation of the white YouTube time button into a snowflake.
