Why is it that celebrity deaths bring out the funniest jokes on Twitter? The same thing is happening with Hurrican Sandy hitting the eastern seaboard this week. Maybe it’s because people are cooped up inside and looking to the Internet to pass the time, but everyone seems to be in top form during this potentially devastating storm. People could be killed or seriously hurt, but I feel funnier, you know? It doesn’t help that they called it Frankenstorm. That’s a free pass to make jokes. I think it’s the fact that we’re all sharing this experience (some more than others, obviously) and it’s cathartic to crack wise. I don’t know how you do it, but my family makes jokes at funerals (some more than others, obviously) because it helps us cope. So here’s a collection of Hurrican Sandy memes and Internet jokes and let’s weather the storm together with laughs.
