StandardTapes 06: Famous Players
Tracks bridging eras and genres, all connected by a similar groove.

Famous Players is Jeff Hayward and Adam Jackson. They like to play fun music and tend to avoid genres invented in the past ten years. Most of their sets consist of “hits” (which most DJs don’t seem to be fans of) followed by “rap music” and “dance music.” They’ve opened for Hilary Duff on more than one occasion. Really.

For their contribution to StandardTapes, they’ve selected a number of tracks bridging eras and genres, all connected by a similar groove. They may not seem related at first, but slowly you’ll notice that there’s an almost spiritual connection between songs. Is this small selection of songs a commentary on all music? Isn’t all music really just made up of the same elements? Are Van Morrison and Lady Gaga really so different? You be the judge.
