Wondering what the neighbours are up to? Tired of big brother looking over your shoulder? Want to turn the tables on the surveillance state? Then 2012, friend, is your year: spy drones are going consumer.Meet Parrot. This Parisian mobile technology company is about the release the Ar.Drone 2.0. A quadricopter, this spy-aircraft is equipped with two HD cameras, an on-board computer and an altimeter. Use your iphone to fly the thing and record video: it’s all done over Wi-Fi.
Admittedly, the rumoured $300 price tag is a bit steep for something that’s cool enough only to use once or twice. And… it’s actually kind of creepy.Perhaps that’s why the manufacturer has built-in video games into the device. Practise rescue landings, play cat and mouse with another drone or have an air-to-ground shooting match with someone else. I guess it sounds fun?
