Did you think this weekend would give us a respite from ceaseless Rob Ford news? Did you want it to? Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but back to Fordlandia we go.
With the rumour mill thick that Jon Bon Jovi may be fronting a group of investors who plan to buy the Bills and move them to Toronto, the Buffalo Bills-Atlanta Falcons game at the Rogers Centre this past weekend was even more supercharged than your average Bills game in Toronto, and Rob Ford was there to take part in the festivities.
If a persual of Instagram is any indication, Torontonians were in high spirits to see the embattled mayor at the game. Things were going swimmingly until Toronto singer-songwriter Matt Mays (formerly of Matt Mays & El Torpedo) began writing tweets suggesting Mayor Ford had stolen his seat. Watching him go from disbelief to confusion to anger and acceptance dominated the Twittersphere for a few hours on Sunday night.
Before long, things were settled, though.
But that didn’t stop Toronto’s Ford supporters from attacking Mays for sharing his story.
Mays was a good sport about things at first…
…but soon the exchange (and others like it) left him dejected.
But hey, life goes on, right?
