On Tuesday, June 11 The Eric S. Margolis Family Foundation held an emotional launch event at Shangri-La Toronto. The Margolis Foundation was established to help animals worldwide, both domesticated and wild, who may be suffering or in immediate distress. The charitable organization does this chiefly through supporting sanctuaries and advocacy groups.
On this eve, the focus was on elephants — with a special presentation by Rob Brandford on behalf of the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. A patron of the Sheldrick Trust, Kristin Davis (Sex and the City) was on hand to support the cause and move more than one partygoer to tears with an impassioned call to arms. Eric and Dana Margolis also spoke before the VIP-laden crowd and the evening was emceed by eTalk‘s Tanya Kim. The event was organized by Mary Symons; other notable guests included Conrad Black, Beverly Thompson, Kirk Pickersgill, Shinan Govani, Andrea Bolley, and Gail McInnes. To top the evening off, each guest received a certificate in their gift bag to become a foster parent to a baby elephant. Become a foster parent yourself here.
