When I was 10 I was obsessed with monochromatic outfits. Each day was a different colour and everything down to my shoes and jewelry had to match. Because of this, I was infatuated with colour-tinted sunglasses. I had a green, pink, blue, and purple pair that I wore accordingly. When I began middle school and discovered Fall Out Boy, the emo took over and my rainbow of sunglasses was donated to a thrift shop.
I never looked back, figuring that coloured lenses died with the nineties. Now, a recent revival makes me wish I saved my little collection.
Fendi Fall 2012Disregarding that sunglasses trends usually surface for spring, designers Fendi and Prada both debuted coloured lenses in their fall shows. Subsequently, coloured sunglasses were a hit for patrons during the S/S 2013 fashion weeks.
Vogue editor Anna Dello Russo was spotted wearing a mirrored blue pair to the Salvatore Ferragamo show in Milan and bloggers quickly pegged an A-Morir (made famous by Lady Gaga) floral pair as their favourite.
This trend will obviously carry on for spring as shown by the Michael Kors, Gucci and Prabal Gurung runway shows, but are you ready to flaunt a pair of coloured shades at your next sunny outing?
