Regardless of your taste in films this app is worth looking into, especially if you enjoy the theatre experience

This summer is shaping up to be another big year for movies with new Batman and Spiderman movies coming out, add to this the Expendables 2, a Total Recall remake, plus another addition to the Bourne series, and there are a number of movies to watch.

Regardless of your taste in films, Cineplex has an app that may be worth looking into, especially if you enjoy the theatre experience.

This free app, available for iPhone, Android and BlackBerry, allows users to purchase tickets through the app. This is really convenient, especially if you are running late or want to avoid line-ups, like me.

I only wish this convenience was extended to the concession area. I can only imagine a day where, before stepping foot into my local theatre, I already have my ticket in hand and a tub of popcorn waiting for me when I arrive.

Another feature of this app is the ability to search for movies and preview the film you would like to see before stepping into a theatre.

I wish there was more material for users to view. Pictures do not really tell us if a movie is great or not. All available trailers should be included, as well as any additional clips that are not trailers. Having this information available may convince someone to watch a particular movie.

Each entry also includes a synopsis which, depending on the film, may offer a bit more information than a trailer can. At least, before going in, you have the opportunity to preview the film you want to watch. Previews for upcoming movies are also available to view.

This app also includes basic features such as finding the nearest theatre and the showtimes for each movie within your area, and across Canada.

If you have a Scene club membership, you can collect points when purchasing tickets. If you don’t have a membership, this app allows you to sign up for one and take advantage of the benefits of the Scene membership. This includes earning points for purchases, free movie offers and discounts on food.

If you are interested in entertainment news, this app includes the ability to browse through the latest news in Cineplex Magazine. While browsing, I found an article on Woody Allen, a new trailer for The Dark Knight Rises and a whole host of other entertainment news.

If you enjoy going out to the movies, and are looking for an app that will get you to your seat faster, I’d recommend taking a look at the Cineplex Mobile app. With a lot of great movies coming out over the course of the summer, it is worth downloading, especially if you want to avoid lineups. Use this app to buy your tickets with no hassle and enjoy the convenience.
