After 114 years in business on Yonge & Bloor, Strollerys is closing
The store will remain open in to the new year.

One of Toronto’s iconic menswear store, Strollerys, is closing after 114 years in business on Yonge and Bloor.

David McKenzie, the store’s manager, told the Globe and Mail that the store hasn’t chosen a definitive closing date yet, and that he expects it will be open until at least January or February. “We still will be here for the foreseeable future,” he told the publication.

The news come a week after Holt Renfrew opened a flagship menswear store down the street.

Over the past several year the reoccurring rumour has been that the store will be replaced by a flagship Apple store. Whether that comes to pass remains to be seen. For the time being, however, all we know is that a developer has purchased the property. The developer has yet to confirm what it will do with the property, but one imagines that a condo development is not far from their minds. [via Globe and Mail]
