Did you know that Conrad Black has a weekly television show on VIsion TV called the Zoomer? No? We didn’t, either. According to their website, the Zoomer is “is not about being apologetic. It will be groundbreaking, intelligent, and hard-hitting discussion on how our growing demographic is changing Canada and the world culturally, socially, politically, economically.”
One great way to uphold the mandate of being unapologetic is to bring on the most controversial figure in Canadian politics, Rob Ford, which is exactly what theZoomer is doing on an unspecified date in the near future, according to sources at the network.
Ford is certainly used to being on television newsprograms at this point. Last month alone he engaged in a whirlwind television tour that took him to the O’Reilly Factor, the Today Show, AC360, plus featured extensive work done on him by the folks at the Daily Show and Late NIght with David Letterman. And the Ford family announced their own show set to air on YouTube “before Christmas,” to boot. It’s not a stretch to say that for good or for ill, Rob Ford has a bright future as a talking head on cable television. At this point, every television appearance he makes while still in office is little more than a trailer of what we can expect when he leaves, so we should probably make peace with our fate as long-term denizens of Fordlandia.
theZoomer airs on Monday nights and is co-hosted by former MuchMusic VJ Denise Donlon.
