A group is crowdfunding a new bus route from Liberty Village to Union Station
Drake may take issue with the name, however.

A new crowdfunding initiative called Line Six Transit wants to help ease the city’s public transit woes.

The campaign, named after Drake’s nickname for Toronto, recently launched its website and is trying to fund a modest first route before attempting more ambitious ones.

Its initial route will go from Priandello and East Liberty to Union Station between October 6th and 10th. Anyone that helps fund the route is being promised “buses [that] stick to a schedule and always pick you up on-time” and great rewards like “a guaranteed seat on the bus”.

With a minimum pledge at $25, the route is more expensive than sharing a TTC bus with the proletariat. That said, as of the writing of this article, the campaign is at $1,450 of its $2,500 goal, meaning it will likely get funded.

If the service gets off, it will be interesting to see how the general public reacts to service; in cities like San Francisco, private bus services have been met with derision. It will also be interesting to see with the city thinks about the whole campaign. [via blogTO]
