With less than two weeks to go until the city’s municipal election, it appears that John Tory is close to clinching the race.
According to a new Forum Research poll, the former Ontario Conservative leader has a six point percentage lead on the next leading candidate, Doug Ford. The poll, which surveyed a modest 1241 people, had 39 per cent or respondents declaring their support for Tory, 33 per cent for Ford and 23 per cent for Chow.
Forum’s previous October 6 poll, which had Tory and Ford neck-and-neck, caused a bit of uproar among the city’s Twittersphere. However, according to Dr. Lorne Bozinoff, Forum Research’s president, Ford missed an opportunity to capitalize on his previous gains. “While John Tory is not increasing his vote share, neither is he losing share, which Doug seems to have done after two very strong weeks. It may be that those strong weeks scared some support back to the Tory camp.”
