Forget about the city’s mayoral election, the most important decision Torontonians will make this October will be who becomes Indie 88’s next host.
In a move that’s reminiscent of MuchMusic’s old VJ searches, the local radio station recently launched a contest to find a new host for one of its segments, and they’re asking the public to help with the final decision.
According to the web page the station has devoted to the contest, they auditioned more than 1,500 aspiring radio host before narrowing down the field to five contestants. The winner will get a year-long gig that pays a $1,000 a month.
The content closes two Friday from now on October 24, and the winner will be announced on the following Monday.
All the potential hosts sound great. However, if I had to pick favourites they would be Lauren Wing and Chris Simon. The former is British—and, let’s be honest, we could all use more British accents on our terrestrial radio stations—and the latter sounds a bit like former “Lovers and Other Strangers” host Don Jackson, which is always a good thing in my book.
Check out Indie 88’s website to hear all the hosts.
Whom are you voting for?
