After an eight week strike, workers at a Bombardier plant in Thunder Bay are set to return to work.
The plant in question is responsible for the manufacture and assembly of Toronto new streetcar. The strike is part of the reason the TTC only had two new streetcars ready for its August 31 launch. The plant also produces the Toronto Rocket, the TTC’s next generation of subway car.
The workers went on strike over Bombardier’s demands that new hires be given fewer benefits. The workers are voting on a tentative deal today. If all goes according to plan, Torontonions might have a couple more fancy new streetcars to ride in the near future. [via Toronto Star]
