This Sunday, the brothers Ford are taking to the airwaves to give Toronto the "straight goods," without the "media twisting" their message.
Mayor Rob Ford and his brother, Ward 2 councillor Doug Ford, will be the new hosts of the relaunched Newstalk 1010 program, The City, formerly hosted by centrist Ward 22 councillor Josh Matlow. Both Fords were frequent guests on Matlow's show, which mixed up local issues, notable guests and entertainment.
“I think it's going to be very informative. It's going to be controversial at times. But you're going to get the straight goods... from Rob and I. You aren't going to have the media twisting it around like they've been twisting it around for the last year and a half,” said Doug Ford, in a Thursday interview with Jerry Agar on Newstalk 1010.
This is not a completely unprecedented move on Rob Ford's part. After all, former mayor David Miller also hosted his own weekly show on CP24.
Here's a(n imagined) rundown of expected topics the Fords will feature in their first "informative" and "controversial" show:
Weight loss tips
"You know what I hate?"-style Kvetching
Rob and Doug's music corner, featuring band of the week, Down with Webster
