Rob Ford went on Conrad Black’s television show on VisionTV last night. And, of course, in true Fordian fashion, he managed to turn an interview full of softballs into a controversy.
After Black asked him what the worst “abrasions” were that had been “perpetrated on you or your family by the media,” Ford took illogical leap of all leaps, stating “Well, I guess the worst one was Daniel Dale in my backyard taking pictures. I have little kids. When a guy’s taking pictures of little kids…[laughs] I don’t want to say that word, but you start thinking, ‘What’s this guy all about?'”
Today, deputy mayor Norm Kelly called Ford’s remarks “beyond the pale,” and suggested Ford owes Dale an apology.
Marcus Gee at the Globe and Mail suggests that Dale and the Toronto Star may be getting their libel and slander lawyers on the case.
Stay classy, Rob.
