It was at Fresh. She was completely meek, he did 90% of the talking in a screaming, nasally voice. When she did talk, it was quieter than a mouse; about half of the time they were both on their separate iPhones.
“My father was emotionally unavailable but my mother wasn’t much better either. [cricket cricket] …. Parents, right? You’re stuck with them.”
“I’ve been using chopsticks since before I used a fork. My parents were VERY multi-cultural.”
[Cricket cricket cricket]
Checking phone: “That was Tony. Now he can only meet for an hour after we moved the date for him. I just sent him a note: “We moved it to Tuesday for you. More communication is needed.” And then I put an unhappy face.”
“You probably want to be nicer than that. I can read the email before you send it. I am the KING of diplomacy.”
“You’re not going to finish that? [half a burrito] That’s the second time today! But you like to share, right? That’s so cute of you, so cute.”
“It’s so hard to constantly be chasing the guy down. It’s the girlfriend, work or school for that guy. He hasn’t emailed back. He could email back. It’s about communication. You want to go home? There’s no rush. We don’t need to bolt right away. Unless you need to bolt. Unless you want to bolt.”
