Apparently, the King of Sweden is in trouble because he may have visited strip clubs during visits to the U.S. and Slovakia. Really? As political scandals go, that would barely raise an eyebrow here. In the U.S., reporters are wondering why a Republican senator caught visiting brothels is remaining silent about a Democratic congressman caught texting photos of his penis.
A Canadian tech company has beaten Microsoft in the US Supreme Court. I4i, which began in downtown Toronto, won $300 million in damages in a high profile patent infringement case. The problem, of course, is that Microsoft is likely to destroy Canada in retaliation.
As the postal strike continues across the country, Canadians may be looking forward to another work stoppage as of Monday. Air Canada customer sales and service agents could hit the picket lines next week. The good news is that the strike is unlikely to last longer than it would have taken to reach an agent on the phone anyway.
The province’s Special Investigative Unit has finally identified the police officer accused of beating a protestor during the G20. Eleven police officers who witnessed the beating, including the accused’s roommate, were unable to identify him. Just a suggestion, but maybe if the city does lay off police, that’s a place to start.
Prince Phillip says he’s winding down as he hits his 90th birthday, adding that he wants to get out before he reaches his “sell-by date.” Recent royal wedding aside, there are those who believe that date may have come and gone for the whole family. Phillip, though, really has been something special over the years.

The rumours have proven true: Mark Wahlberg — yes, Marky Mark himself — has bought a $12 million condo in Yorkville. Wahlberg has taken a liking to Toronto, having spent a lot of time here filming. If he can afford that, maybe Wahlberg can afford refunds for those of us unlucky enough to have seen the Planet of the Apes remake or The Happening.
In news of less lofty housing, the city may sell off as many as 900 social housing units. The money would go to plug the city’s $774 million deficit. Those units may be more in the price range of Marky Mark’s brother Donnie or the rest of the New Kids on the Block.
The fate of its elephants continue to plague Toronto’s zoo. Now, city councillors are walking out of zoo board meetings to avoid further debate on where to send the poor animals. Elephants don’t forget, people, and this is not going to go over well.
Crowds of teenagers are already lining up for this weekend’s MuchMusic Video Awards show. Don’t kids have school anymore? I’m sure Lady Gaga would prefer that her fans stay in class, and I know Selena Gomez would.

A new law in Tennessee makes it a crime to post any image online that could “frighten, intimidate or cause emotional distress” to anybody who views it. So basically, there will be no more internet access in Tennessee.
