14-year-old swims across Lake Ontario, 'Top Gun' director Tony Scott dead in apparent suicide, Rihanna says Chris Brown was 'the love of my life'

14-year-old swims across Lake Ontario

Awesome! Annaleise Carr, 14, became the youngest person to ever swim across Lake Ontario on Sunday night, in just 27 hours.

The teenager began her swim at Niagara-on-the-lake at 6:15 p.m. on Saturday, after her departure was postponed by strong winds the day before. Choosing Lake Ontario for its challenge, Carr was also swimming to raise money for Camp Trillium, which helps children with cancer.

The Simcoe, Ont. native managed to raise close to $50,000 for her charity of choice, nearly $20,000 more than her original goal.

A swimmer since the age of four, Carr finished her journey in Marilyn Bell Park, where 680 News reports Bell became the first person to ever cross Lake Ontario.

‘Top Gun’ director Tony Scott dead in apparent suicide

Big box office director Tony Scott died on Sunday, after jumping off a bridge in California, in what authorities are investigating as a potential suicide.

The Los Angeles Times reports that Scott left contact information in his Toyota Prius, which led the police to a suicide note he left in his office. A rep for the coroner’s department confirms to The Hollywood Reporter that they are treating this as a, “suicide investigation.” The Los Angeles Port Authority removed his body from the water at around 4:30 p.m. PST.

Best known for being at the helm of boffo successes Top Gun, Days of Thunder, Unstoppable, Enemy of the State, and True Romance, the 68-year-old director also collaborated with Denzel Washington for five different films. Born in Britain, Scott was the brother of director-producer Ridley Scott.

Scott last served as a producer of The Grey, Prometheus, TV’s The Good Wife, and Call of Duty ELITE: Friday Night Fights.

Rihanna says Chris Brown was ‘the love of my life’

In her much-anticipated interview with Oprah, Rihanna said Chris Brown was the “love of my life.”

Appearing on Oprah’s Next Chapter on Sunday night, the 24-year-old singer said she still “loves” Brown, and is reminded of him all the time, particularly when on the road.

“He was the first love and I see that he loved me the same way,” said Rihanna. “We were very young and very spontaneous. We ran free. We ran wild. We were falling in love going in at a really rapid pace and we forgot about ourselves as individuals.”

Three-and-a-half years ago, Brown brutally beat Rihanna while driving home from the Clive Davis pre-Grammy party. After the restraining order between her and Brown was eased in February, the two have met, and even collaborated on remixes together.

Still, Rihanna insists the two are not together, saying Brown is “in a relationship of his own, I’m single,” but that they are working on their friendship.

“We built a trust again and that’s it,” said Rihanna, holding back tears. “We love each other and we probably always will. And that’s not anything that we’re gonna try to change. It’s not something you can shut off if you’ve ever been in love.”
