Semi-nude Lettuce Ladies to Crash Monday’s Rob Ford Weigh-in
Image: stuff.co.nz
Vegan women, clad only in lettuce, plan to crash Rob Ford’s weekly public weigh-in on Monday, as part of a plan to seduce the mayor into eating healthier.
The “lettuce ladies” are representatitves from PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. Their goal is to make a fresh impression on the mayor and his brother, Councillor Doug Ford, to preach about the dietary benefits of going green. For part of their cheerleading-esque schtick, the ladies also aim to distribute vegan jerky.
Besides, what better way is there to let vegetarianism grow on you? Right, Elizabeth Berkley?

Garth Brooks’ Stampede Concert Sells out in Seconds
But the real question is, how many Chris Gaines tickets are left?
Yes, that was a Chris Gaines reference in 2012. You’re welcome.
Fans of country legend Garth Brooks are outraged, after tickets for this summer’s Calgary Stampede performance sold out in just 58 seconds on Saturday, the fastest in the event’s 100-year history.
Though the 15, 322 seats were bought out at lightning speed, Brooks (and Gaines?) devotees are crying foul at the suspiciously quick appearance of the tickets on re-sale sites like StubHub, where the are now on sale for a very expensive mark-up. The general admission seats, which originally retailed at $62, are now being advertised for prices ranging from $275, to $4,500.
I guess Ticketmaster had too many friends in low places.
Israel Blocks a Fly-tilla
Pro-Palestinian activists who attempted to “fly-in” to Tel Aviv’s international airport to protest Israel’s domestic policies were not only detained at the airport, but also greeted with a sarcastic letter from the Prime Minister himself.
More than 40 activists were refused entry into Ben Gurion Airport on Sunday, and were sent home, starting Sunday night. 1, 200 activists were to be barred from entering the country for attempting to protest the country’s treatment of Palestinians.
The “fly-tilla” claimed to be entering the country to build an international school in Bethlehem, but the “fly-in,” described by Israel as a misguided protest, seems far from a peaceful mission.
Have a nice flight, indeed.
