The Province of Ontario is not a fan of a "Bunny Ranch," Rogers closes its video stores, and a real-life Inception app. Your Morning Cable

The Province of Ontario is not a fan of a “Bunny Ranch”

Sex work may be legally protected, but do not expect the “Bunny Ranch” brothel to make its Ontario debut anytime soon.

At Queen’s Park, representatives from Las Vegas’ famed Bunny Ranch brothel proposed opening up a location into Toronto, on Tuesday. Allegedly, once proposed, Premier Dalton McGuinty asked what one was before he politely declined, PC Leader Tim Hudak laughed it off, and NDP’s Andrea Horwath reluctantly agreed, saying she would rather pursue other options first.

But how did it all end?

Some nervous chuckles, and the premier said, “so we’re not going there, next question.”

And scene. Nice try, Helen Mirren.

Rogers Closes its Video Stores

Quick, somebody Instagram this photo! Image: Toronto.iBegin.ca

Yes, your Rogers Video card is officially a historical relic. After years of speculation following Blockbuster Video’s closure, Rogers is  also shutting down its video rental service. A new release from the tech conglomerate says the video rental and retail business posted a 43 per cent loss in 2011, to a total of $82-million.

The video business, which makes up for less than one per cent of the company’s annual revenue, is no real threat to Rogers, it is just dead weight, for now.

Currently, Rogers Video has 460 locations nationwide. Starting Wednesday, the stores will begin liquidating their inventory, and offering all remaining movies and video games at two-for-one prices. See you there! I can’t wait to pick up a season or two of The Wire.

A Real-Life Inception App?

You’re not dreaming. Or are you? A Harvard PhD student is trying to bring Inception to life with a new iPhone app that supposedly helps you “program your dreams.” This is great and all, but did Daniel Nadler, the student in question, not see what happened to Marion Cotillard?

Nadler calls the app “Sigmund,” and only charges 99 cents for it. Sigmund builds off of sleep science to help users program their dreams using 1, 000 keywords, and maybe even some collapsing walls. takes the selection of one to five words and then a soothing Siri-esque voice reads off the list during the REM cycle, to help make the dream a reality. Or, at least a subconscious one.

So far, only 34 to 40 per cent of users have had their dreams affected by the app.

Still, do not fret; the BWAAAAA sound effect is optional.
