After announcing plans to stop his “Cut the Waist” public diet, Toronto Mayor Rob Ford has shifted his weight, and will continue to lose the pounds, in private.
Ford told his brother, councillor Doug Ford, and listeners of his Newstalk 1010 radio show Sunday he was, “Not even dieting anymore,” and that he does not, “care about the weigh-in.” Yet, on Monday, he called in to the John Tory Show to clarify his stance, saying he was still planning to lose 50 pounds, but just without public pressure.

“My brother was egging me on pretty good… I went down 22 pounds, I was 330, went to 308,” said the mayor. “Then I gained four pounds and I was just a little frustrated. He just kept bugging me and bugging me and bugging me and I said, ‘Enough with this diet, it’s over.’ … I’m not weighing in on Monday, I’ll weigh in on June 18 and then I’m going to continue on.”
June 18 was the original end date for the For d brothers’ “Cut the Waist” challenge. Since starting the campaign in January, the mayor has missed five of the last nine public weigh-ins. The mayor also cited media pressure as a reason for quitting his public battle of the bulge.
“They just sit there and wait for you Monday like piranhas,” said the mayor.
Indeed. On the other hand, Doug Ford has vowed to continue on with his public diet, and both Ford brothers plan to weigh-in on June 18.

Originally, the bill called for, “organizations with the name gay-straight alliance or another name.”
Though other ambiguities remain, Collins says the “principle” of the matter restricts the freedom and autonomy of different school boards, and adhering the Catholic Church’s mandate.
