Let me be specific: I’m not leaving the web for a year. Paul Miller of The Verge is leaving it. In an article published this afternoon, Miller has decided that he will attempt not to use the internet for an entire year, neither in his work nor his personal life. It’s not about hate for him, it’s about pervasiveness: “What I worry is that I’m so “adept” at the internet that I’ve found ways to fill every crevice of my life with it, and I’m pretty sure the internet has invaded some places where it doesn’t belong.” Liiiike bed? Liiiike morning routines? Liiiiike at restaurants?
The deets are pretty wild. No internet whether on a computer, on a tablet, or on a phone. No text messaging. NO GIFs! Can you imagine?
And it all starts tonight at midnight.
What a total sucker!
