After 31 years of forcing concert-goers to line up in the cold dredge of March, CMW has decided to move it’s annual festival to May, when traipsing from one venue to another doesn’t involve leaving the warmth of the bar to negotiate rain, sleet or snow. 2014’s CMW will run from May 6th to 10th with the Marriot Downtown Eaton Centre Hotel as its headquarters once again. “It’d be nice if you could do an outdoor show” said CMW President Neill Dixon of suggestions he’s gotten from performers in the past. This past March saw over a thousand bands and 70,000 attendees. The move to spring will surely inspire some outdoor shows and draw out more fans and bands for what has become Canada’s largest music festival. Traditionally, the music festival was set up in March as a ramp up to the Junos, but with the award show changing locations annually, there is little to motivate sticking to the month of March.
