What We're Doing This Week

This week you should stare into the sun and eat burgers all day long. Your weekly instructions on what to do with yourself:

Add to your interpretive dance repertoire with Italian Disco King, Beppe Loda. $10, June 2. The Drake Hotel, 1150 Queen St. West

Regress to your youthful paint-eating days at Bluebird: A futuristic food & art fundraiser. Enjoy delectable, edible art. June 2. The Burroughes Building. 639 Queen Street West. 5-11 pm. Admission: Non-perishable food item to go to the Daily Bread Toronto Food Bank.

Blue Jays vs. Red Sox. 1:07 pm, June 3. If the Jays lose, you’ll still get a Yunel Escobar Collectible Bobblehead to comfort you at night. Rogers Centre, 1 Blue Jays Way

Dandy Warhols @ Phoenix Concert Theatre, 410 Sherbourne St.  June 3, $30. The Portland band launches their 8th album.

Burger Day: June 3 @ Artscape Wychwood Barns. Slide some sliders down your mouth hole in gluttonous celebration of Burger Week. 11:30-4:30, $5. Musical performances by Maylee Todd, Interhead and Too Many Sisters.

Sunday Night Live feat. the Sketchersons. Comedy Bar, 945 Bloor St. West. June 3, 9 pm. $10. Like Saturday Night Live but a day later, dig?

Stare into the surface of the sun (with solar viewing glasses, you nihilist!) at the Transit of Venus Star Party. Watch Venus pass across the sun. June 5, 5:30-10 pm. Ontario Science Centre, 770 Don Mills. Free.

Einstein on the beach:  Robert Wilson,  Philip Glass and Lucinda Childs discuss their 5-hr long opera based on a historical figure: Albert Einstein. 7 pm. $20. Students $12, art gallery of Ontario, 317 Dundas St. West. June 6.

Young Women of Influence: Building a Career Path feat. a talk by Sandra Sanderson, Senior VP of Marketing at Shoppers Drug Mart. June 7. 2012, 6-8 pm. The Burroughes Building. 639 Queen Street West

The World Through the Ears of a Bat! June 7, 2012, 7-9 pm @ Toronto Zoo Education Auditorium, 2000 Meadowvale Road. University of Western Ontario professor and renowned bat biologist, Dr. Brock Fenton will shed some light on our fluttering mammalian friends. Followed by a short walk to observe and listen to wild bats. I’d go but I live in very real fear of getting that shit stuck in my massive hair.

SCENE NOT HERD. Remember when reality TV programming killed the music video star? Watch a sweet slurry of theatrical music videos as part of the Worldwide Short Film Festival. Screening at 9:30 at Bloor Hot Docs Festival, 506 Bloor St. West. Afterparty @ The Burroughes Building, 6th Floor. 639 Queen Street West. June 8.
