North by Northeast Announces First Musical and Comedy Acts
This year's music fest will feature The National, Millencolin, and Calexico, as well as comedian Donnell Rawlings

Toronto’s North by Northeast Music and Arts Festival has announced its first round of music and comedy acts today. Headliners include Brooklyn-based indie rockers The National, who will be playing a free show at Yonge and Dundas Square on June 14th. Other headlining musical acts include Swedish punk rock band Millencolin, alt-country group Calexico, Brooklyn rapper Joey Bada$$, Tampa post punk act Merchandise, legendary Montreal hardcore punk band Genetic Control, and “The Greatest Rock Band in the World,” Supersucker.

They also announced who will be in this year’s Comedy Extra Series: Donnell Rawlings (Chappelle’s Show, The Wire), Nick Reynoldson, Trixx, and Daver Merheje. All the comedy shows will be at Danforth Music Hall, and the first 50 people to arrive at Rawlings show will receive free wristbands.

This year marks the 19th year of the massive music and arts festival, and it will feature more than 950 bands, 30 films, 80 interactive sessions, 75 comedians, as well as art installations. It takes place June 10th to 16th. Tickets will be available on Thursday, February 28th, from the NXNE website.
