OVO Fest’s surprise line-up undid any wrongs that the Drake-headlined festival had previously done, showcasing the likes of Kanye West, A$AP Rocky, Miguel, The Weeknd, Lil Wayne, TLC (TLC!), Diddy, and J Cole, among others. Frank Ocean who?
The line-up for the day was successfully kept hush-hush, and made it all the more worthwhile when the festival unleashed its mammoth line-up of special guests. At the show, Kanye told the crowd that he and Jay Z wouldn’t have recorded Watch the Throne if it hadn’t been for Drake putting pressure on them. Later, in what was either an amicable response or simply another act of one-up-manship, Drake said Kanye is the reason he’s rapping today.
OVO Fest, you really were The Best We Ever Had.
To celebrate the fest’s success, Drake released his new song “Hold On We’re Going Home” earlier this morning. Listen on, and read the festival’s partial setlist below.
