After footage of a foul-mouthed encounter between a man and an officer surfaced, Durham Regional Police Service penalized a constable with two unpaid shifts this month, the Toronto Star reports. In the video – recorded in 2011 and posted late last month to Youtube – an officer is seen confronting a man outside an Oshawa home. The situation quickly escalates as the officer seemingly dares the man to attack him when he says, “Shut your fucking mouth and do something… do something please, do fucking something . . . take a swing…”
After searching the man, the officer then threatens to plant drugs on him saying, “Here’s how I work… You know how, you know what I do?… Just so you fucking understand me?… I hurt people… and then I make their cocaine fucking appear…”
The Youtube page identifies the officer as constable James Ebdon of the Durham Regional Police Service, but the force declined to release the penalized officer’s name or any additional details concerning his punishment.
