We were wet. We were underground. There were balls, balls everywhere, and not a drop to drink. For a minute there, the mood at SPiN Toronto’s eleventeenth opening party–held at the King West ping-pong club on the rainiest night since I don’t even know–was a little frustrated. Then the (admittedly overworked) bartenders sorted their shit and served us something that tasted like apple pie, while food-staff passed around devilled eggs and popcorn. Suddenly it was a less like a failed locker-room orgy and more like mom’s basement, but you know, with the coolest mom ever. Susan Sarandon? Oh she was there. The actor and SpiN Galactic co-founder (she’s dating one of the owners, Jonathan Bricklin) looked short and happy. Table tennis champ and model (how does this happen? I would love to know) Sooyeon Lee looked tall and happy. Everyone else looked fine. Verdict: this ping-pong club is a great place for people who like ping-pong.
The Ping Pong Social: SPiN Toronto Opens
It was like hanging out in your mom's basement, and your mom is the coolest mom ever. (Think Susan Sarandon.)
