The Toronto Fashion Incubator, a non-profit organization that supports and nurtures Canadian designers and small-business entrepreneurs, will celebrate their 25th anniversary this Thursday with a gala event. In addition to the standard cocktails and dinner, guests will be treated to TFI’s New Labels Fashion Design competition, a celebrity ‘Barbie-inspired’ fashion show, and what’s sure to be the after party of all after parties (if you’re into that sort of thing).
For over two decades, TFI has nurtured many of Canada’s most celebrated fashion talents including Sunny Fong, Joeffer Caoc, David Dixon, Arthur Mendonça, Smythe, and JUMA. If there’s ever an event to break the bank on your wardrobe, this is it. All of Toronto’s fashion elite (including honorary board memeber Jeanne Beker) will be in attendance and the question of the night will most certainly be: “Who are you wearing?”
1. TFI is all about Canadian talent so now is the time to break out any homegrown labels in your closet. (Erdem Kirstin Silk-Chiffon Gown, $6,320)
2. Balance classy and exciting with an Alexander McQueen piece. This clutch is a great way to take your outfit from feminine to femme fatale. (Alexander McQueen Skull Stingray Box Clutch, $2,480)
3. The night’s invite asked guests to strap on their Louboutins and who are we to argue with Suzanne Rogers? (Christian Louboutin Strass Lady Peep Toe 150 Pumps, $4,915 )
4. Statement jewelry was made for nights like this. Make it count with a rock that’s huge, colourful, and designed by a Canadian. (Hera Paradise Signature Leaf Ring, $1,595)
5. Toronto-based Shay Lowe is where those in the know go for standout pieces. (Shay Lowe Baby Pink Pearl and Crystal Necklace, $725)
6. Badass clutches are a favourite of mine (can’t you tell?) and I would love to get my hands – carefully! – on this spiked clutch. (Christian Louboutin Marquise Leather Clutch, $1,995)
7. Long dresses will probably rule the night; pick a gown with a one shoulder detail to keep things sexy. (DSquared, $4,115)
